Edel Lugones

In my work I want to capture the different emotions of human beings, These are very intimate works in which each character tells their story with just a glance. The idea is to focus on the human being; to look inside. It is to capture a moment, a look, the body, a gesture.

Most of my characters are my own family and friends, I know these people well and those emotions come through in how I paint. In some of the works I combine drawing with painted realism. Often I include fragments of the works of the great masters allowing them to talk to my subjects, alluding to how two worlds, two different ideas can merge at some point in our lives.
